History
Since 1928, SIREM has been designing innovative motorization solutions to support the major changes that occurred in the 20th century:
revolution in small household electric appliances, mechanisation of agriculture, industry automation, need for security and wellness.
► 1928: Creation in Lyon of the company “Radio d’Art AB”. Manufacture of radios.
► 1937: Radio d’Art AB changes its name and becomes the “Société Industrielle de Radio Électricité & Mécanique” (SIREM).
► 1946: SIREM diversifies into a new activity: small household electrical appliances. SIREM starts winding its first electric motors. Development of a wide range of products for household (“Combinex” mixers, electric sorbet makers, portable washing machines, etc.) and also professional customers (knife grinders for butchers, ironing machines for dry cleaners, etc.)
SIREM exhibits its products at the International Paris trade fair (Foire de Paris), and is on the front page of glamorous French magazines (ELLE, Paris-Match, etc.)
► 1950-1960: Major evolution of the sales & marketing strategy: shifting from the selling to end users to the selling to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). SIREM develops built-in drain pumps for the developing washing machine market. SIREM equips the largest manufacturers all over Europe. Drain pump production reaches 25,000 units /month.
► 1960-70: Concentration on an emerging OEM market: milk cooling tanks.
SIREM rapidly becomes the main producer of gear motors for milk cooling tanks in Europe (and today is the main supplier worldwide), by developing fully customized products dedicated to each individual customer. This approach still is the cornerstone of its strategy.
► 1994: Move to a new 7,000m² factory on the outskirts of Lyon (in Saint Maurice de Beynost).
► 1995: Development of pumps for the whirlpool bath market and subsequent acquisition of ASD. SIREM gradually widens its products ranges with jets and accessories, thus offering a full equipment kit to whirlpool bath manufacturers.
► 1996: Launching the motorised rollers and drums product lines for supermarket checkout conveyor belts.
► 1998: New market for the motorised rollers: scrolling advertising billboards (for street furniture).
► 2004: Penetration of a new market: automatic swimming pool covers. To this end, SIREM engineers global innovative motorization systems, featuring:
• customized gear motor
• mechanical integration into the customer's system
• built-in electronic control
• electric control panel.
